A GATEWAY TO THE LAKOTA PAST & PRESENT IN AUDIO FORMAT
EPISODE DESCRIPTION In this episode, we'll embark on a journey to uncover the rich history of one of the 7 Lakota spiritual traditions – the Sun Dance. As we step into the realm of the Sun Dance, we'll discover the intricate rituals, symbolic regalia, and the deep connection with Wakan Tanka, the Great Spirit. Fasting and dancing under the sun's gaze, participants seek spiritual renewal, unity, and guidance from the spirits that have guided their ancestors for generations. Join us as we delve into the sacred rhythms of this ancient ceremony and exploring its significance and enduring legacy within Lakota culture. Hi listeners, thank you for listening to this episode! I hope to make more episodes in the near future! The Sun Dance was an amazing part of Lakota history and tradition and it is a shame that it cannot be practiced, exactly to tradition, now. The Lakota people had a deep connection with the Wakan Tanka, the Earth and their ancestors, which made the Sun Dance extremely significant. I think that the Sun Dance was a testament to the virtually unbreakable spirit of the Lakota people- and many other First Nations Tribes. Unfortunately, much of the traditions and history of the First Nation's people are being lost to globalization and the cultural removal endured by the Lakota in the early 20th century. But not all hope is lost! Sharing and listening to this podcast and enabling this history to be shared and those stories to be forgotten is a very good way for you to help! If you have any friends, family, etc. who you think would enjoy this podcast, PLEASE SHARE it to them! I'd love to grow my audience even more and educate more people on the history of Indigenous Americans and the Lakota people.
